Veneered Box with Amber Cabochon Inlay

Our first exercise in veneering, this box features Pomelle Sapele veneer in an offset starburst pattern, with a cabochon cut Amber inlaid at the starburst origin. The veneered starburst rays flow unbroken over the front and back of the box, while the rippled sycamore sides provide an interesting counterpoint to the deep red of the Sapele. Exposed dovetail joinery and a Pomelle Sapele interior complete the picture.
