Custom Hi-Fi equipment can be more than just a little boutique, and there’s no way we would pretend to have expertise in acoustics or the effect of various timbers and designs on sound.

That being said, our good friend Nick wanted a housing for the custom guitar amplifier he had built for himself, and he was looking for something with a bit of flair. This dovetailed box with a shaped front panel was made from Pau Ferro, a tropical hardwood sometimes used in guitar construction that is notable for both the vibrancy of the multi-coloured grain, and the rather odd smell it gives off when being worked.

We think the bookmatched front panel really highlights the beauty of this wood.
